175 Years To Celebrate

The 175th Annual Richmond Fair is symbolic of this region in Eastern Ontario, built from the ground up with tightknit communities standing side-by-side with larger centers. The Annual Richmond Fair is no longer just a venue to exchange on agricultural practices but has become a part of the fabric of this community. It is symbolic of tradition and simpler times, celebrating the hardworking men and women who devote their lives to the land but it also bridges the gap between generations. A little bit of old and a little bit of new in the perfect combination.

Richmond, Ontario is within the city limits of the Nation’s capital, Ottawa, but has kept its rural feel and charm with all the convenience of a large city just miles away. It is the best of both worlds.

Celebrate With Tea!

Celebrating its 175th Anniversary this year and steeped in tradition, the Annual Richmond Fair appeals to both young and old with a wide variety of activities. This year a 4-day Tea Room and quilt show were well-attended additions.

175 Quilts on Display

The volunteers were busy all weekend pouring tea and serving homemade sandwiches and sweets to a steady stream of people. The tea room was set up in conjunction with an amazing display of quilts showcasing a stunning array of patterns and color combinations.

Community is Important

The Teacup Attic was happy to supply all of the fine china for the Tea Room. Guests were delighted to sit down to tables of vintage china by Royal Albert, Royal Crown Derby, and Aynsley. It provided us with a chance to participate in an event that is at the center of this hardworking community. Manned by a small army of volunteers that make things happen, tea flowed and bellies were full. These gatherings provide a space where new friends are made and old ones reunite. It is where we want to be: at the heart of it all. We like to think that we bring the world together one teacup at a time.

Our September contest is now closed and the winner will be announced here on the blog in the next few days. Come back to see which beautiful teacup we will be giving away next! Our next contest will run from October 7th to October 28th, 2019.
